Emergency Aid 1.1 First Aid kit

Post by Roberte » Wed Apr 11, 2018 5:04 am

Our pack is choosing to work on the Emergency Aid OAS, and we had some questions on the First Aid Kit requirement.

What is the purpose of the emergency blanket?

I can think of many reasons why an emergency blanket might be useful for a survival kit, but this is a first aid kit. What would be the expectations for a Cub to do with an emergency blanket in his kit?

Any thoughts or answers would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you

The emergency blanket can be useful for first aid for:
  • treating shock or hypothermia by retaining the victim's body heat.
  • treating heat exhaustion or stroke by reflecting sunlight.
  • increasing site safety as a highly visible reflector
There are all sorts of other creative uses for a sturdy sheet of plastic.
