Prorated membership fees

Post by Scouter Richie » Wed Nov 10, 2010 4:39 am

Is dropping the fees in half in Feb not done in every counsel? I suspect not since we don't have a pre-register discount.

All the same dropping it a little each month(Nov-July) would be even better.

So instead we have an ongoing bring-a-friend night to any meeting that is taking place at our regular meeting hall. This way we only have one or two extra kids each evening that really get the full idea of what we are about without being overwhelmed. We'll have to evaluate if this works, but it does give the bonus effect that if a child expresses a friend's interest in coming, we can say, sure bring them with you next week...as opposed to waiting for a bring-a-friend night.
We do the samw thing in Germany and our group has increased from 45 in2009-2010 to 71 registered so far in 2010-2011.
This works best for us also Kaa.

Once upon a time the registration fee was done on a monthly basis.

I suggested this in my council and the response was that it would be too hard to implement!

I guess the admin needs to split this thread for Erroll...

Attached is an "additional member" registration form from 1963 showing 10% of full fee for each month the new kid will be in the program that year.

Interestingly, on the main registration you were supposed to write down "Boy Days in Camp". You also had to indicate the grade of each Scout.

PCC (Vancouver) has had an 18 month registration fee in the spring for some time.

Basically at some point in the spring (can't remember off the top of my head), individuals can register for the rest of the year at the full rate, or they can register for the rest of the year + the next year for a discounted fee over all.

Early registration for returning youth was $130, early registration for new members was $140 (so they could start once the paperwork was in), and regular registration for all was $150.

I've attached the info sheet that was sent to the leaders earlier this year.
