Activites that help scouts earn their Activity Awards

I'm looking for program ideas that can be used to help scouts earn their various Voyageur and Pathfinder Activity Awards. For many of the requirements it's easy but some of the dry, classroom-like requirements can be a challenge. I'd like ideas of fun ways your troop has used to meet the requirements. Ultimately I'm looking for ideas for EVERY requirement for every badge but will be happy with whatever you can suggest.

For example, for Pathfinder Citizenship #1 I've often set up on a wall a Concentration (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concentration_(game))
style game where scouts look for matches of the actual flag and the corresponding name.

What do you do for Pathfinder PD Social #2,3, and 4, etc?

Re: Activites that help scouts earn their Activity Awards

Hi Garth

I just joined last night. I saw this plea for Chief Scout Resources. I immediately thought of the Chief Scout Page! I signed on to talk scouts with the intent of sending this individual the great resource workbooks I found there.

I just got authorised to go on the site, got excited to share this great resource, then saw your name at the bottom of the post!!!! I have to laugh. here I am about to send resourcess to the creator of the resource!

Alas, glad to see you here. I am searching for more Jump Start programs in electronic versions. If I find them, I will let you know.

If you have them, will you share?

Re: Activites that help scouts earn their Activity Awards

Thanks Mark! The workbooks are a great resource and I'm glad they've helped so many scouts and scouters. I was originally inspired to create them when I saw BSA Merit badge workbooks. I tried to find similar resources for our badges and when I couldn't, decided to write a workbook for every badge in our program.

However, there are a number of different learning styles and the workbooks don't suit everybody. I'd like to find activities, games, projects, experiments, etc. that can be, and have been, used to meet badge requirements. Over time I want to create a list of resources that can be used by any type of learner.

That is what my request is for. I want my site to become the ultimate resource location for scouts who want to progress through the badge system.

So...if you have any ideas please let me know. I must admit that I'm only collecting ideas right now and will store them away. The actual creation and placing on the site will need to wait about 2 years when I finish my current term as an area commissioner. I'm just don't have the time necessary to really plow into the project, although I will add material as I do have the time.

Garth
