Re: Leader education

Okay, did the Wood Badge I Company and Crew on line. Did them both and passed in about 3 hours total, which was easy after having read the advisor books earlier this year. From my experience with Wood Badge I Colony, which I took live before the advent of e-Wood Badge training, there cannot be a comparison. It was exactly the same as reading the advisor's books, which took a lot longer, and which prepared me perfectly to whiz through the e-courses.

I would imagine that a 14-15 hour Wood Badge course with live instructors and a bunch of participants to share with would impart much more Scouting wisdom to me than 3 hours of clicking on my mouse. At least I'll complete my pin collection, but that is about all I got from the two courses.

Grade for the Wood Badge I Company and Crew: D+ I'll take the live training when I reach those sections.

Re: Leader education

13 minutes for Company, 20 minutes for crew.

That being said, it helps that I've effectively been running my crew for a few years now, and started two Companies and a Crew since I was 14. I do like the emphasis that Rovers are not service slaves. It's definitely a good study tool and quick reference guide and perfect if use the slides for in real life training purposes and a it's great run through of the program for new leaders. Exactly what I was expected based on the other three sections.

E-Learning is great when combined with real life section training.

PRECISELY. I wouldn't dream of stepping into an advisor's role without the live WB I. The e-training is a primer, required reading if you will, to ready and inform yourself for what is waiting. An excellent foundation for the live course, to be sure, but far from a replacement.
