Re: If I was the CEO...

Kaylee...I like the idea of a partnership with Paddle Canada. I am a canoeing instructor (although I'm not currently registered) and tried hard to get them to possibly do something. One of the issues is that as a PC instructor, for my courses to be sanctioned and "official" (ie. so I can hand out ce...

Re: Nova Scotia Council

How sad that you think this is about training and that it was just. I feel so badly for you...although it does help me understand a lot of your comments so I appreciate that.

Re: WB II courses?

I can't help you with the timing schedule but in terms of your finances I do have a suggestion. Download the WBII course curriculum and you will see how much of the material (conflict resolution, leadership development, planning, etc) are all things that can have a corresponding use in the business ...

Re: Canoe registration now required?

Well I'm an instructor too and I do believe it's that simple. The link you've provided is to PC pages that are filled with all kinds of details and interpretations but they seem to ignore the TC page (http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/marinesafety/oep-vesselreg-smallcomm-procedures-457.htm) that states: Manda...

Re: Canoe registration now required?

I'm not sure why those guys haven't investigated but: The Transport Canada web site FAQ (http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/marinesafety/oep-vesselreg-smallcomm-faqs-935.htm#01-01) on the matter states: 1. What vessels are required to have a Certificate of Registry (Small Vessel Register)? All non-pleasure (co...

Re: Uniform news?

I have no concerns with every member having a vote (why shouldn't Beaver Scouts vote for their uniform?). According to BP&P the choice of whether or not to wear a uniform is ALWAYS to be made by the youth and their parent so why not let them vote? They're going to anyway! Your comment: "In this envi...

THANK YOU LIAM!!!

Everyone so far is confusing Scouts Canada with Scouting and they are most assuredly NOT the same thing.

Re: Pioneering spar and rope colour coding

OK...I understand the need for rope coding by what you've mentioned. Do you ever work with different diameters of rope for different purposes? I'm just trying to get an idea of how many permutations and combinations would be needed. Let's put together something. Did you colour your ropes or purchase...

Mark siad: I get what you're saying, but I think you'll find a lot of cub leaders disagreeing with you.

Yes you will...but the event is NOT for the cub leaders!!!

Pioneering spar and rope colour coding

On another forum Liam asked whether anyone had any thoughts or sources for standardized lengths and colour codes for ropes and spars when doing pioneering projects. I have never heard of anything as detailed as this. Spar lengths of 8', 6' and 4' are certainly common ones I've seen. However, I've al...

Re: Discuss: Petition for a Binding Forum

Then I don't think you've put the question into context with John's comments regarding whether we're going to act as a corporation or not. That is the nature and purpose he's referring to. Of course, if I'm misinterpreting John's comments he can correct me!

Re: Staying Motivated

Attached is an article of mine from the March 2006 Leader magazine that describes my story. Getting leaders to help train others is a great idea. Starting something new also helped me...a small group of like minded scouters got together and we developed and implemented the Golden Arrow, Silver Star,...

It's relevant Errol because she is stating that it is in keeping with Scouting practice for the council service team to be released/removed from their positions when the council commissioner's term ends. I'd like to know just where that is being practiced. I want her to explain it because I don't be...

Re: Program Quality Awards

Agreed...but my challenge is for troop leaders to see how their section would stack up against these BSA requirements. Since we have no real equivalent to their version of a CoH I wanted to describe what their event is so leaders here can make an interpretation as to whether they present badges publ...
