Re: Books and Resources

Somebody just mentioned they had heard that the staged badge system was replacing the stars in Cubs. Is that correct? The stars are being revamped into something new, and more balanced. All related to the Jungle book. The staged badges are not replacing them, they are simply crossing paths. ;) Stay...

Re: Exciting intro activities

Getting into schools.. With budget cuts and other program closures in many schools & Boards, they are happy to get some free animation done in the school during carnival week, mini olympics day or at other school events. Scouting groups can host some fun stations during those days, or after school. ...

Oh ho ho.. Heavy metal camp ! Awesome! Putting that one on the list! Our sixers picked Cereal camp at our last summer camp. Talk about going for the ultimate sugar high.. It was a blast.. everyday was themed on a different cereal, made the activities related to the cereal we ate that morning...

Re: CCJ - Is it really Scouting?

You would think that this is not the only camp the cubs would go to in a year. Fall, winter and summer camps are pretty intense for our pack, we go camping cook food and have a hoot! But spring is usually an Area or council cuboree, sometimes catered and maybe in platform tents depending on where we...

Re: PROGRAM REVIEW

Remember also, any "catching up" for a new member can be taught by other cubs or older scouts.
Mentoring and teaching is one of the elements that we are definitely making prominent in this review.

Re: Too school-like?

Hi Guys, I would suggest to you to join the review just like Errol suggests. There is a huge team being brought together for all sections and the Cub program does require many refinements. Take a look at Dylan's blog about some of the new approaches we are bringing. http://blog.scouts.ca/2012/01/rea...

Re: Nigel's Navy Cub Wide Game

The Game can be played with as little as 6 peeps. For the predators, I always use my sixers.. Leaders play the role of Hunters and Disease. Also, here is a fun trick forHunters (Leaders), take a prey, promise them a new chip if they can stand near a tree, staring blankly outward.. tell them to make ...

Re: Great Hiking Places to Blow Off Steam!

I've been to a few fun places, I did my Leave No trace training at this park. It was very nice to hike around. They also have canoeing sites available. http://www.frontenacpark.ca/ If you want a real challenge, our troop, during Pacific Jamb, really enjoyed Gambier Island. They did say it was gruell...

Re: Woohoo!! A new Uniform!!

In the days of analogue cameras it was very inexpensive to order a duplicate set of prints at processing time. Many of those photos found their way to fridge doors at the Cub's homes. I Love the idea, action shots are awesome.. even better if displayed out in the open. Every year, after summer camp...

The reason I did publish it was because I see lots of my new leaders going on the forum and just see tons of National bashing and Nothing that helps them do what they need to do as leaders. Let's inspire the masses, not demoralize them.. bcbagheera, You are for sure entitled to ...
