Charity Donations, Microcredit and World Cubbing

I'm a big fan of Microcredit loans. I was toying with the idea of getting our Cubs to lend money to a recipient of their choosing on Kiva (www.kiva.org) and possibly using this as a way into the World Cubbing badge.

Can anyone advise me:
- Are we (as a pack/group) allowed to make donations to charities of our choice or do all donations have to go to the Brotherhood Fund?
- Does it matter that we're considering a microcredit LOAN rather than a DONATION ?

Thanks in anticipation for your thoughts.

I think this is an absolutely fantastic idea! What a great way to show the Cubs an excellent way to create a better world.

To answer your questions:

1) No, you are not required to only donate to the World Brotherhood Fund. You can donate to any organization your group wants. I would think that you should get committee approval first though as per BP&P 11003 vii
2) It does not matter that it's a loan or not. However, just consider it a donation and if money comes back then great...reinvest it back.
