I agree, what about gift cards in a Dollar amount? Let's say $50 or $100 towards a scout membership, maybe charge $48/$95 for them respectively? That way the varying fees would not be an issue.

Kaylee, no, but I am not in charge of the section. I will sugest it. I would have no idea who to ask, but our GC probably would

I think that might help. it also might help to see what other groups that are similar charge. I know that guides here is just over half what scouts is. camp fees are the same. dues in scouts are more. I dont know that in this area $70 makes all the difference, but it has an impact for sure, especialy right when school starts and people are shelling out for school suplies and up to $300 in school fees.

But Scouts have Popcorn..........

What is your point? :!:
There is nothing stopping you from ordering a bunch of popcorn and then selling it door to door like the Guides do. My scouts did that as their winter CJ fundraiser. We have the added bonus of offering a bunch more flavors without having to pay up front.

Come to my neighbourhood and try it..... Have you ever heard of Whalley in Surrey, BC? It is one of the lowest income areas in Surrey, and our group meets almost smack dab in the middle of it.
The cost of a box of cookies (i haven't bought any recently, but i believe they retail for about $4, I don't know what the wholesale cost is,but for argument sake, say it is $2), vs the cost of a bag of popcorn (i will use the $20 bag, so group would pay $12 up front), make it much easier to sell the cookies directly.

I dont know neibourhoods in surrey. in a low income area I am sure popcorn is hard. plus, some of the best cookie houses have these plants with spikey leaves growing in them....

cookies were $4 per box. this spring they will be $5.
