great list

I would add for outdoors predator prey and indoors an indoor snowball fight. ball up a bunch of newspapers, dump them in the center of a gym or similar room.....

this is a link to a GG site about predator prey. it can be modified a bit of course. what we do is run the game basicly like this for about 30 minutes then release "man" who when he shoots you takes half your life tags. send a parent voulenter out and tell them to go decimate the group. then during our discussion point out what man does to harm nature besides just hunting....

For indoor snowball fights we use old socks (preferably white) that have been washed and rolled up. We keep them in the supply box all the time and instead of planning it we as leaders generally launch a surprise attack on the kids! They absolutely love it.

Re: Favorite Cub & Scout Games

Flahslight tag: you wait for dark and set firm boundaries (patrolled by leaders). The person who is "it" counts down from 45, the cubs hide and have ot make their way back to the start point. If you get shone with a flashlight, you're out - and you can turn on your flashlight and look for others. Last one standing wins the round!

The mere promise of flashlight tag has ensured that dishes get done after supper...

Re: Favorite Cub & Scout Games

We did an indoor version of flashlight tag with our Cubs called Escape from Colditz:
  • Make your meeting hall pitch black; mask of emergency exit signs, etc.
  • Fill the hall with a mish mash of tables on their sides for Cubs to hide behind.
  • Cubs start at one end of the room and try and make it to the other end.
  • Leader stands at the finish end, and if he hears a noise he can shine a light towards the noise.
  • If a Cub is caught in the light he is out.
  • Winners are those that make it to the end of the hall.
This game was absolutely adored by the Cubs.

Interestingly, I just stumbled across an entire Scout camp in the UK based on Colditz: http://www.colditzchallenge.org.uk
